Summer Playscheme 2017"Monday 17 July until Friday 11 August.

Booking forms will be sent out the week after half-term. Please try and book in good time, since it is often over-subscribed. Mrs Sarah Price and her team will be ready to provide an exciting variety of themed activities over the summer holidays.

Exclusions through illness
Children who are suffering from vomiting and/or diarrhoea will be excluded from school for 48 hours.
Children who have chicken pox will be excluded until the spots have crusted over.
Parents of children suffering from other childhood ailments should consult Form Teachers/School Office for advice as to whether they should come to school.
If Senior children cannot (for medical reasons) participate in Games lessons they will need to be collected from school by 2.20pm as staff are unable to supervise them due to their teaching commitments.

Sibling Discount
We are pleased to offer 5% discount for a 2nd child and 10% for a 3rd or subsequent child on termly school fees.

Sibling Registration
Numbers are particularly buoyant for our 2017/2018 and 2018/19 intakes so please register your child/ren as early as possible to be guaranteed a place. Please ask the Office for a Registration Form (Non-refundable Registration fee is £50/Refundable Acceptance fee is £500 which will be refunded at the end of the Summer term when your child is in Year 6) or call in to speak to Mrs Raggett. Please be aware that siblings are not automatically registered without a completed registration form.

Merton Court ‘Tiny Tots & Toddlers’ Club’
Mrs T Langton will be co-ordinating these afternoon sessions on Wednesdays that run from 1.30pm until 2.45pm from Wednesday, 3 May until Wednesday, 28 June. The cost is £5 per session including refreshments. If you have a pre-school child (or know anyone who has) and would like a social opportunity and a safe, structured first introduction to our school environment, please contact the School Office or Early Years directly (020 8309 5299).

Before & After School Clubs
Before School Club
will continue to run from 7.30am in the School Dining Room (£4 with breakfast, £3 without). Last breakfast will be served at 8.10am. Office staff are available from 8.30am if you need to use the front door.

After School Club continues to run from 3.15pm until 5.30pm in the J1 classroom (£6 per hour, with the minimum charge for the first half-hour, or part thereof, being £3.00). Parents are requested to settle any outstanding balances on a weekly basis. Please note that any payments outstanding for more than two weeks will be subjected to a £5.00 administration charge and anyone staying after 5.30pm will be charged £15 per quarter-hour or part thereof, per child. Any money paid into the school office must be handed to Mrs Raggett.
If your child knows in advance that they will be going to After School Club, they will be sent directly there and you will be charged from ten minutes after the end of their school day.

Please note you will be required to sign your child out. Please do not leave without ensuring you have done so.
Please ensure you ring the School Office before 1pm if you wish to send your child to After School Club as it is not always possible to ensure the message is passed to the relevant teachers in time (if the children are at PE/Games for example). However, please be assured that any child who is not collected is automatically taken to After School Club, ten minutes after the end of their school day.

For the security of the children, School gates will be closed at 8.55am and will open again at 3.00pm.
Anyone arriving between those times will be required to use the main
entrance/front door to the school.

Extensive parking is available in our upper and lower Rectory Lane car parks. Please be prompt with ‘pick ups’ and ‘drop offs’ to ease congestion at busy times like the start and end of the day. Please help us by following the signs relating to disabled parking bays and also to passing bays, which MUST be kept clear at all times to help the flow of traffic. Car speed remains an issue, so please, for the safety of everyone, try and maintain a maximum limit of 20 mph when using Upper and Lower Rectory Lane roadways. There is an overspill parking area on Merton field that may be used, please do so if the main carpark is busy and do not block the entrance/exits to our field parking. Parents - please keep a close eye on your children at all times while using the car park. It is vitally important that if children are dropped off they are dropped off adjacent to the J1 entrance gate. Do not let them walk through the carpark unaccompanied as there has already been a reported incident during the first week of term. Please park with consideration on Knoll Road without obstructing private driveways. Your courtesy and co-operation are greatly appreciated. The car park at the front of the main school building is for staff and deliveries only. Bexley Council is also running a ‘Stop means stop’ campaign with all thirty-two of its school crossing patrols serving more than forty-five schools across the borough, since there has been an increase in the level of anti-social behaviour towards crossing patrols by drivers and an increased level of failure to stop at crossing patrols. We are most fortunate to have the benefit of our own crossing patrol so should you see anything untoward please do not hesitate to contact the school or indeed Bexley Council.

Canine Companions!
In the interest of health and of safety, please do not bring dogs onto school premises.

Uniform and Appearance
All children should be wearing full summer uniform.
Red shoes are available from Liquorice Kids, Welling DA16 3PU (Tel:0208 303 5488) and also from ‘Saf ’n’ Ash’ in Sidcup High street (With both shops offering a 10% discount for all Merton Court parents) along with Pares, Blackfen " Tel: 020 8303 7443.
Please note that all shoes must be closed back and toe. No open shoes are allowed for Health and Safety reasons. If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Macdonald.
Baseball caps, which may be worn to school when wearing tracksuits/PE kit, should also be in school to wear at breaktimes and lunchtimes during the sunny weather. These are available for purchase from ‘OZ’ Schoolwear. Please remember in the mornings all children should be wearing caps/hats or baseball caps - depending on their activities. Children are also reminded that they should leave school correctly dressed; which includes blazers and the correct headwear and footwear.
NB: Swimming caps must be worn at all swimming lessons.
Once again, parents and children are respectfully reminded that hair styles should be appropriate to school. The excessive use of gel on hair, colouring of hair and cut designs in hair are not permitted in school, and hair for boys, should not be over collar length. Any hairstyle that draws attention to itself should be avoided; otherwise children may risk internal exclusion or being sent home to remedy it. We strongly recommend that earrings are removed before all sports lessons. Studs may be worn in swimming lessons but at parents’ own discretion and responsibility. School will not be held accountable for injury, loss or damage. Hair bands should be school colours only (red, yellow, grey or black) or school scrunchies available from ‘OZ’ Schoolwear. Whilst we endeavour to respect the individual tastes of Senior pupils relating to school bags we would ask children to choose plain coloured rucksacks and sports bags. From a safety prospective we would urge all children to wear appropriate footwear when using the astro or climbing equipment and they must be supervised on the play equipment at all times.
