13 Nov Remembrance Service 2025
Earlier this term S3 (Yr 5) travelled to France on a Journey of Remembrance to pay respects to ex- pupils of Merton Court, known as, ‘The Lost Boys’, who tragically lost their lives during and following the conflict of two World Wars. The children led a respectful, poignant Remembrance service commemorating those who gave their lives as well as marking the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day, even including their own family connections and contributions.
Both S3 classes moved their audience of family and friends of Merton Court, local MP Louie French, Bexley councillors veterans and even the Deputy Lord Lieutenant to tears when recounting the long arduous years of fighting, shared the joyous celebrations that took place on VE Day, bittersweet reactions by those left grieving, shared letters from loved ones on the Front Line and remembered all those experiencing current conflicts and the devastation of the aftermath of war.
We are extremely proud of our S3 children who delivered the service with respect, confidence and pride ensuring that we always remember that so much is owed by so many to so few.
