17 Sep S3 Residential Trip to France
S3 (Yr 5) had a great educational residential trip to Chateau d’Ebblinghem. High points were certainly the privilege of laying a wreath at the incredibly moving Menin Gate evening service, where our children also acted as Flag Bearers during the Last Post, performed by Ypres Fire Brigade. We visited the Canadian memorial at Vimy and Wellington Quarry in Arras. We also visited, as we have for over 20 years, one of our past pupil’s Marcel Simon at Arleux-en-Gohelle. St. Omer’s beautiful baroque cathedral was amazing and the children loved the sea-life centre in Boulogne, even though the sealions were very lazy and sunbathing instead of swimming around this year. The penguins as usual were very smelly but adorable. This was a great experience for the children of S3 who will be leading our annual Remembrance Service in November.
