125 Anniversary Tree Planting, Flag Raising & Cake Cutting Ceremony

125 Anniversary Tree Planting, Flag Raising & Cake Cutting Ceremony

Welcome back to an action-packed term, and indeed an action-packed year.  What a special ‘125’ year it promises to be…

Following on from a beautiful magnolia being planted by our Year 6 leavers at the end of the Summer Term, Our Headmaster, Dominic Price, continued our tree theme with the quotation ‘one generation plants the trees – the next generation benefits from its shade’ as a new River Birch was planted on our School’s front lawn.  Our Head Cook, Cathy, and her team, prepared a beautiful ‘125’ cake and cupcakes for the whole school.  It was a very poignant occasion, with over 150 parents attending, with the whole school singing Omnia Strenue with great gusto. Our founding Headmaster, J W E Pearce, the renowned Latinst and Numismatist studied at Merton College Oxford which is how the School gained its name.   We have a full programme of events over the next twelve months, celebrating 125 years of experience, expertise and excellence from 1899.

If you are a past pupil, please do contact us via the School Office, to find out more about Founder Week, 24th – 27th June 2025, when all Old Mertonian’s will be most welcome.
